“Classical spirit, American soil.”

The Parthenon in Nashville is a full-scale replica of the ancient Greek Parthenon in Athens, built in 1897 for Tennessee’s Centennial Exposition.

Standing in Centennial Park, it reflects Nashville’s long-standing nickname, “The Athens of the South,” honoring the city’s focus on education and classical learning.

Unlike many replicas, this Parthenon is meticulously accurate, housing a permanent art museum and a towering statue of Athena Parthenos, recreating how the original temple would have appeared in antiquity.
