“Old walls, living faith.”

Catedral de San José, stands as both a place of worship and a historical landmark in the city of David. Originally constructed in the 19th century, the cathedral reflects a blend of preservation and renewal.

The original bell tower remains intact, anchoring the structure in its historical roots, while the main body of the church has undergone renovation to meet the needs of a growing congregation.

Today, the diocese is led by José Luis Lacunza, whose leadership continues to shape its pastoral mission. Together, the cathedral and diocese represent continuity, faith, and the enduring presence of the Church in Panama’s western highlands.
